Some stays are about doing less, and doing it beautifully. This A-frame cottage pairs the drama of the forest with a plunge pool of its own, so mornings can start with a quiet swim beneath the canopy with only birdsong for company, and evenings can end with the sky turning pink above the treetops.

Inside, a sweep of slatted timber rises to a glass gable that fills the ground-floor bedroom with green from wall to wall. A king-sized bed faces the trees, a desk waits for postcards or a little work, and the private balcony is made for slow conversations over coffee. The bathroom brings its own indulgence, a freestanding bathtub for long, unhurried soaks after a day outdoors. Up a wooden staircase, a twin-bedded loft beneath the eaves gives children or friends a cosy corner of their own.
